Programmable Ink Lab Notes

Sketchy Feel

The early stages of ideation are the time for working in rough. Your thoughts are just taking shape, so the marks you make on paper are similarly loosely shaped. We love this sketchy feel of paper and pencil. Digital tools, on the other hand, learn hard the other way. They give everything an exact number, whether it’s the x-coordinate of a vertex or the red channel of a color. For hashing out a rough idea, this emphasis on precise measurement is premature formality. We think the fidelity of your tools needs to match the fidelity of your work, and there aren’t enough tools for working with rough, early ideas. We want to make a digital notebook that lets you write, draw, design, measure, model, and simulate with a sketchy feel.
